Closed-Door Sanctuary for Special Needs & Elderly Cats
At Special Little Whiskers Sanctuary, we open our hearts and our home to the cats that need us most — the elderly, the medically fragile, and those with behavioral challenges who simply need a little extra patience and understanding.
We operate as a closed-door sanctuary, which means our cats live in a calm, controlled, low-stress environment rather than a public facility. This , allows us to give each one the individualized care they require. Every cat in our care is treated like family, with quiet spaces, gentle routines, and constant attention to their comfort and dignity.
Our mission is simple: to make sure no special needs or senior cat ever has to face their final chapter without love, warmth, and a soft place to land. (Because our care is so specialized, we're unable to take in cats without special needs or medical challenges — our full attention stays devoted to those who need it most.)
Cat Behavioral Consultations
We believe every cat's behavior is a form of communication and we're here to help you understand what your cat is trying to say. Because our shelters are overcrowded, our goal is to help keep every cat possible in their loving home. We offer free phone consultations to help cat parents in our area work through everything from litter box troubles to anxiety, aggression, and multi-cat household dynamics. Cat Educational Professionals
Cats are endlessly fascinating and we can't wait to keep learning about them right alongside you. As part of our growing mission, we're building toward educational resources and content that help cat lovers everywhere better understand feline health, behavior, and wellbeing. We write regularly about cats because we believe knowledge is one of the kindest gifts you can give an animal who can't speak for themselves. Our goal is to grow this passion into a true teaching resource for our community — both online and in our local community.
Artists & Creators
Creativity plays a special role in life here at the sanctuary, both in the toys we handcraft for cats and the stories we share about them. We're especially proud to have award-winning nature artist Deidra Smith on board, whose hand-drawn (never digital) artwork brings a warm, organic beauty to our mission. Alongside her work, our team creates original cat toys and social media content designed to bring joy to our cats and connect our online community with their stories. Together, art and imagination help us shine a light on the cats in our care and the difference a little creativity can make in their lives.

Fostering in Times of Crisis
Sometimes life changes in an instant — a sudden hospitalization, the loss of a home, or another unexpected crisis — and a beloved cat is left needing somewhere safe to go. At Special Little Whiskers Sanctuary, we step in to provide emergency foster care so families never have to choose between their own crisis and their cat's wellbeing. We keep these cats safe, comfortable, and loved for up to a month, with the goal of reuniting them with their families once things stabilize. No cat should lose their home because their person is going through a hard time, and we're here to make sure they don't have to.
(Please note that space is limited, so we do have a waitlist at times. Therefore, we encourage you to reach out as soon as you can.)
